Carlson Construction Company has been a family name for 75 years beginning with my grandfather, S.O. Carlson in the early 30's.
Oscar established the original Carlson Construction Company as a commercial building company. His work included many of the buildings along the Truman Road corridor. His last job was James Campbell Ford on 40 Highway in Blue Springs. He passed away before he could complete the job at which time, my father, Kenneth L. Carlson and my uncle, Lindley A. Carlson stepped in and completed the job.
After the job was completed they parted ways, each starting their own companies with my uncle going commercial and my father starting a home building company under the name of Kenneth L. Carlson Home Builder. My dad built many homes in the Raytown, Independence, Lee's Summit and Olathe areas. Growing up in the construction business it was natural that my brother and I would follow in their footsteps, thus the legacy continued.
In the early 70's, my brother started a rough-in company and I started Carlson Remodeling performing remodeling and new construction. Due to the construction boom in Las Vegas in the early 80's, I moved Carlson Remodeling to Nevada where my company operated successfully for almost 15 years. In May of 2003, with my remaining family aging, I made the decision to move my company back to Missouri as I could be near my family.
